Synopsis
What do you do when your daughter is in an abusive relationship? Would you adopt a teenager to save her life? How do you parent after your husband leaves you? These are just a few of the tough issues families in season 1 of Parented face. How it all started
With a desire to explore and represent the complex and diverse issues faced by modern parents, the Radiant Studios team started talking to families across the country. Teaming up with production company Monument TV, the docuseries Parented sought to capture a few of the incredible stories of courageous parents and their families we discovered.
We also wanted to make these stories easily consumable on mobile. We decided to experiment with shooting the entire series vertically and then edit each family as their own short form mini-series. The result is an innovative editing approach that leverages the advantages of vertical video and quick episodes that get to the heart of each family’s story.
