Model information

Photography is a wonderfully expressive art form and recently I’ve moved into the area that blends Fantasy, Fine Arts and Figure studies. I’m looking to create a series of pictures that have a mythical quality to them. I want to create pictures that can express the qualities of an Angel, dragon, warrior, or nobility with the bare minimum props. This requires some very unique models to pull off successfully.

I'm always interested in working with models for other projects as well. If you're interested in discussing a photo session you can get in touch with me by sending an e-mail or calling Joe at 763-913-2584. I live in Woodbury, Minnesota and take most of my “studio” pictures in my home.

For the most part I do not do ‘head shots’. I think they are rather dull and are best done by a studio that specializes in that type of work.

What you, as the model, can expect:

* I usually have a few other people present besides myself. This might include someone to do hair and makeup, my personal assistant/wife Susan, other artist friends that help with posing and lights etc. The extra’s are not necessary and usually have 3 people or less present. I require at least one other person there to cover the liability and witness the signing of the model release.

* A typical session will be 4 hours minimum and does not include travel time.

* Payment is very flexible and depends a lot on what kind of work I am doing. If I have something very specific in mind then I pay $200 for a session, a follow up session might be requested. If someone is interested in a shoot for the experience or needs pictures for their portfolio then I will be happy to work out a deal, usually exchange of prints for the model release.

* Most models will be nude, even if the picture does not show all.

What I expect:

* No Prior experience is required.

* All models must be adults 18 years or older. You will be asked to show ID.

* Be reliable. Setting up a shoot is a very time consuming effort on my part. If a model cancels at the last minute I am out several hours of my time and the time of anyone that I have wrangled in to assist me. I completely understand if someone gets cold feet on a project, especially if this is their first time, or if something comes up at the last minute but please try to avoid this.

*Be honest. If you have cold feet, I will understand and not hold it against you. I would rather cancel a shoot than try to take pictures of a model that feels uncomfortable. If you start to feel uncomfortable after the shoot starts you must tell me.
- A good model can make a bad picture look great. A stressed model can make a great picture useless. It is very important that you, as the model, be comfortable. This includes communication with the photographer on conditions such as room temp, muscle stress, if you need a break, thirsty or are uncomfortable with something. It, for me, also includes suggestions if you would like to try something I might not have thought of. It’s only film, it never hurts to try.

* Be able and willing to communicate, either through e-mail or the phone. This would include such things as responding to e-mail and phone calls, and letting me know if a photo session needs to be cancelled/re-scheduled.

* The models I like to work with are typically younger (18-29 years old), long hair, thin and in good shape. Also few if any tattoos or piercing's. Sometimes I will use temp tattoos.

* A signed Model Release Form is required after the session.
